Services Offered

Kun Wei experts assist you with overcoming geographical, cultural and legal barriers and enable you to manage your overseas business from home.

  • Starting a Business: we help you set up a subsidiary, conduct due diligence before buying-out and negotiate with local partners or distributors

  • Outsourced In-house Management: if you already have a business in the APEC region but have yet to grow a stable local team, Kun Wei assists you in company governance, daily contract review, compliance and license application, IP portfolio management and risk control issues.

  • Supplemental Expertise: if you already have internal staff in a position to manage legal & compliance matters but are in need of local insights or some extra expertise on specific matters, we may offer a team of professionals with specialised talents to assist you.

  • Kun Wei Academy: this includes (1) conducting research on demands, (2) training your staff; or (3) offering training programs and workshops for bankers, asset managers or lawyers from other jurisdictions who wish to expand their own expertise or develop a career in Asia.

If you have invested in private equity or a listed company significantly, but are not in control of the company, you would certainly hope to prevent majority shareholders from manipulating local rules and robbing your wallet.  Kun Wei retains talents who are very familiar with listing rules and general corporate governance in Hong Kong and China, and can monitor your invested company on your behalf:

  • monitor announcement of public companies and identify clues of acting in concert

  • remind you of your duties in reporting any buying-in or selling-out

  • representing/assisting you in general/board meetings

  • conducting due diligence in monitoring third party actions against your invested company

  • advising exiting strategy

It is always a headache for entrepreneurs to find and manage the right external counsel, especially when dealing with overseas matters.  Asking external advisors the right questions will significantly reduce costs and save time.

Before your business is large enough for hiring in-house talents in each of your targeted countries, what should you do?  Look for someone you have a personal connection with in the country? But she might not be familiar with your industry or your targeted market at all.

Don't risk your friendship with your local drinking friend. Instead, professionalism and experience are what you should look for. Kun Wei utilizes our community member's professional network in the region to locate, interview and more importantly, manage local advisors.

IMPORTANT: Kun Wei works for you, and not for local agents/counsels. We represent you just like your in-house team and do not represent the local firms. We watch out them, communicate with them with the right questions, and save your energy and costs.
